Sharing some recently added designs

Just wanted to share some designs I created for a wonderful customer in Maryland, she wanted a couple of very special Christmas presents for her daughters. I loved them so much, I just had to add them to Girl Party Tutu’s line of TuTu Dresses. ENJOY!

What a year I’ve had

girlpartytutus-463317
Pinky Preppy Single Puff TuTu,

So as my first year of business is coming to end, I am trying to take sometime to reflect on the things I did well and was successful at and the things I need to work on this next year. Well the first thing I determined during my first year of business is that running a business, taking care of 2 little girls, running a  household and blogging is extremely difficult and requires a ton of planning, preparation and organization. I obviously found zero time to post anything here after September. I was not  prepared in the least for the rush I experienced at Halloween. Very good mind you but blogging pretty much went out the window. Immediately after Christmas came preparing for the 4, yes 4 craft shows I elected to do, I really believe I went insane when I signed up for all of them. The other crazy thing was my first show was November 8th, a little over a  week after the Halloween rush ended, because yes I was filling orders until about 3 days before Halloween. So again yet another thing I was unprepared for as I maybe had 5 tutus ready for the shows and had a goal of 50?!. But all in all the craft shows went really well. My mom was a huge help at each show, thank god for my mom, though she swears she didn’t do anything. It was nice to have some time to just talk with her, since children, there as been very little time to just sit and visit with my mom uninterrupted. Anyway the best thing that came from the shows, besides the good sales and contacts made, was that not one person could walk by my booth without it putting a smile on there face. I have to say if my fun little creations can make someone a little happier just by looking at them and I sell some along the way, I’m pretty lucky.

Then came Christmas, very very busy, thankfully and crazily so. I was much more prepared for Christmas with regards to supplies and managing my time( I basically got very little sleep for a month if you can call that time management, LOL). And thankfully a week of rest.

All in all a great year, I couldn’t possibly tell you all I’ve learned in this one post, so over the next few weeks I am hoping to post more about the goals I have set for myself for this year. I thank all of you that have taken the time to read my posts and visit my site. I am looking forward to another year in business and hopefully will do a much better job of blogging.

What’s been happening in our world you ask?

Well as I have said this is a peek into the first year of my new business, Girl Party TuTu’s,all while juggling being a WAHM/SAHM and wife. But first before I fill you in on all that has been happening on the homefront, I want to share a few new designs to the website.
In the Fancy Tiered TuTus we have Aquamarine Angel Fancy Tiered TuTu

Divine Diva Dress Up Fancy Tiered TuTu

Next is our newest addition to our Wishing Wands, The Shining Sunflower Wishing Wand

Last but definitely not least, our newest TuTu Dress, Chocolate & Daisies TuTu Dress

I am not really sure how I have found the time to work on these lovely designs, no sleep, but it’s been fun, I hope you enjoy and please come check them out in all their loveliness at Girl Party TuTu’s.
Anyway onto the diary entry:
So basically my first and most important roles of mommy and wife have been my priority the last few weeks, my darling 3 year old has been requiring a lot more of my attention these days. I know she is just being a toddler but my goodness she is a handful sometimes. Somedays it just seems like one battle after another after another after another, will it ever end. In my world the terrible two’s started at 18months and haven’t stopped yet. Please don’t get me wrong she is extremely loving, kind, sensitive, charming, smart, silly and boy can she make me laugh, but somedays UGHHHHHH!!!! I love this child to pieces and what it comes right down to is this, we are just too stinking alike, she really is a mini-me is so many regards. I unfortunately am dreading the teenage years, I know how moody and tempermental I was with my parents;SIDEBAR: Mom, Dad if you happen to read this I am soooooo sorry for ages 13 to oh I don’t know 20. Next on to my darling one year old who has been teething, not sleeping through the night, emptying my toilet bowls of every drop of water whenever the opportunity presents itself and starting to climb any stool, chair or stair around even though she hasn’t taken her first real step yet. Finally we have decided to put our house up for sale, in this crazy and basically nonexistent market I think we might be loony. We live in an area of Metro Detroit that has been feeling the pinch on the housing market for the last 5 years, houses just sell slow around here, Port Huron is just too far for most sane people to commute to where the jobs are, and unfortunately there aren’t many jobs left in town anymore. But my husband drives 1 1/2 hours to work one way everyday, it is just getting to be too much for him. So I have been trying to clean, declutter and prep the house to be able to put the house on the market by October 1st, we’ll give it 60 days and see what happens. That in a nutshell is a peek into our world here, crazy yes, boring to most, most definitely but it’s our world and we love it. I know it sounds to some like I am complaining, and maybe I am but it helps to get these things off your chest sometimes, believe me when I say though I am extremely blessed and thank god everyday for my family and all we have. But maybe some other mom will read this and relate and know she’s not alone in her struggles because as most moms can tell you being a SAHM can be isolating sometimes and it helps to know others struggle with the same things. Jumping off the soapbox and leaving you until next time, take care and have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by.

Here’s a Sneak Peek

at a new design I have been creating in my head for a few months now, I just wasn’t sure if the design in my head would translate in reality! I created this very special design for a very special little girl who’s 4th birthday is approaching, my oldest darling’s BFF who happens to my BF’s (owner and designer of Beach Haus Designs), daughter. She is having a very special Fancy Nancy party and her favorite color is PINK, PINK and more PINK. I am so excited about this design it will be making its debut on the website soon, just deciding if I need to create more in different colors before I add it to the site. Still working on the name as well, I would love your feedback on the design, names and other colors and combinations you would like to see. So I think I will run a couple promotions over the next week. Let’s start with anyone who offers a suggestion on the name will get a coupon code good for 25% off your next purchase and free shipping. Check back in a few days for the next promotion, who knows it might be a giveaway, you’ll just have to come back to find out.

New Designs, check them out.

As promised a few new designs and a previously seen design with a name! So here we go:

First off for your viewing enjoyment we have Cotton Candy Confection Single Puff TuTu

Second we have Chocolate and Raspberry Truffles Double Puff TuTu and Chocolate and Raspberry Single Puff TuTu

Third on our tour is one of my new favorites, Shimmering Seaside Wishes Organza TuTu

FINALLY this TuTu has been named; Fancy, Fabulous and Funky available in Double Puff TuTu and Single Puff TuTu

Over the weekend I plan to work on some coordinating wishing wands, so look for those designs after the weekend.

Thanks for going on our tour we hope you enjoyed yourself and our new designs. Wonderful day and weekend to all.

Balancing Act

Be aware of wonder. Live a balanced life – learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
Author: Robert Fulghum

What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter.
Author: Henri Matisse

I always try to balance the light with the heavy — a few tears of human spirit in with the sequins and the fringes.

Problems arise in that one has to find a balance between what people need from you and what you need for yourself.

My private measure of success is daily. If this were to be the last day of my life would I be content with it? To live in a harmonious balance of commitments and pleasures is what I strive for.
Author: Jane Rule

Hopefully I am not the only one who struggles every day for balance, it just seems like lately balance is just constantly on my mind. Trying to find the balance between my roles; wife and mom, mom and woman, woman and wife, business owner and stay at home mom, daughter and friend. Balance between my things to do list; clean the house and promote my business, do the laundry and making tutus, working in the garden and taking 5 minutes to breath. Balance in my business; making new tutus and promoting my business, networking and working on my website. At this exact moment as I write trying to find the balance between writing this entry and listening to my daughters as they ask me questions, talk to each other, talk to the hummingbird flying outside our window. Finally Sleep or no sleep, really that’s an easy one, SLEEP, it just seems like my hours sleeping are dwindling each night.
Each day seems like a different struggle in one of the above situations. I am not sure if I will ever find true balance, and I am sure if I ever think I have, something else will come along to challenge that balance. I guess all we can do is try each and every minute, hour, day to try and achieve some balance and hopefully maybe for one minute or hour or day we might achieve just that. I would love to hear what your daily balancing act looks like and what you struggle with, and if you have found someway to acheive balance please help a girl out.

AWOL for too long

I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything in so long. My life has been a little crazy, hectic and did I mention crazy the last month. From the arrival of the inlaws for 5 months, two parties hosted at our house(4th of July, and my babies 1st birthday) an amazing trip to Chicago with the hubby and my parents, a garden gone crazy with weeds from all the rain and finally fantastic sales; I had 18 tutu orders to fill over a 2 week period, 12 of which I had to make and ship before we left for Chicago.
Wow, finally I have been able to take a breath, this week has been a game of catch up, I hope to be able to get some new tutus listed on the website, though not really new, I made them about a month ago, just haven’t had the time to put them on the website. I am hoping to get to work on some new designs over the weekend as well, I have tons of ideas running through my head that I just need to get into reality. Football season is fast approaching as well as Halloween, and Christmas( can you believe it) and I really need to get some TuTu’s created.
Just wanted to touchbase quickly, let everyone know I am still around. I have 2 little girls wanting to play right now so I will be back, with more details about the Chicago Trip and maybe some new designs, I will leave you with 2 pictures of my baby on her birthday.

Been Busy Busy as a Bee

Little Miss Sunflower TuTu

So since I have returned from my weekend away, I have finished up 2 new TuTu designs, the one above is called Little Miss Sunflower and I think it is just so beautiful. If I am to be honest with you though, if you were to ask me which is my favorite TuTu the answer would be whatever TuTu I am working on at the moment or have just finished. I can only hope others are feeling the love for my TuTus as well. I think I will be working on a wishing wand to go with Little Miss Sunflower in the next week or so. The next TuTu, I unfortunately am having a difficult time coming up with a name, I love it for its brightness and funkiness but just can’t figure out a name yet, so until then it will have to be previewed here before making its debut on the website. Any suggestions are welcome! Of course here is my youngest and newest model. She can’t wait to make her debut on the website.

On top of the new designs I had 3 TuTu’s to make for orders this week, which was wonderful, 2 of the TuTu’s actually were for a customer in Malaysia, very cool!
On top of that I am preparing for the arrival of my in-laws who will be in Michigan for the next 5 months, getting ready for a 4th of July party here at our house to celebrate the numerous birthdays in our families in the Summer months. Also planning for my baby’s 1st birthday, luau themed by the way. I just ordered the invites from one of my wonderful friends on Etsy and Designing Swanky Moms, Whitney makes beautiful invitations, announcements and so many other things, she is worth checking out! Visit her at A Joyful Vision.
So just been busy, busy, busy, Oh well no rest for the wicked and the righteous don’t need none! Hopefully I fall in the righteous category most of the time but sometimes you know you just got to be wicked! LOL. On that note, I will leave you!
Have a fantastic weekend!

Refreshed, Relaxed & Recharged!

AHHHHH! After a long girl’s weekend away, I can officially say I am Refreshed, Relaxed and most importantly Recharged. I had a wonderful weekend away with 3 of my girlfriends in Traverse City, MI. My best friend and her family have a cottage on Lake Michigan that we escaped to for the weekend. She by the way is owner and designer of Beach Haus Designs. She creates beautiful and unique jewelry for every woman. We enjoyed friendship, relaxing on the beach, cocktails, shopping, and wine tasting. For those of you unfamiliar with the area, Traverse City is a lovely vacation, resort, beach town and very close by is Old Mission Penisula which is host to no less then 6 wineries. Their cottage is located on the Penisula so of course we had to to get a taste of the local wineries during their annual   Diva’s Uncorked weekend. I highly recommend this adventure to any and all Diva’s. Check out their website for other dates and locations across the country.
So after my glorious weekend I have arrived home recharged and with a fresh set of ideas ready and waiting to be created.
Here is a sneak peek at a few of my new Organza TuTu’s that will be making it to the website over the next day or so. This first one will be called Strawberries & Chocolate.

This one I custom created for one of my Etsy customers and I just fell in love with it so it will definitely be added to my line under the name Strawberries & Cucumber Mint,

Now an apology, for those of you who have attempted to leave comments in the past and have been unable to do so, I have corrected my settings to allow comments without an account. I apologize, I overlooked that setting when I was creating this blog. It has been corrected and I look forward to your comments.
Have a fantastic night!
